Cure Staphylococcus

See your doctor to ensure correct diagnosis.

Staphylococcus, more commonly known as a staph infection, presents itself when one of any of 30 species of staph bacteria finds its way under your skin. The infection manifests on the skin in the form of swelling, redness, and boils. Staphylococcus is very treatable: But can turn deadly, if improperly cared for. If you suspect you have a staph infection, seek medical treatment immediately. Your doctor will determine the necessary course of action.

Instructions

1. Wash the infected area with soap and warm water several times throughout the day, making sure to pat dry with a clean towel each time.

2. Cover the infected area with bandages or clean clothing, to prevent it from coming into contact with anything that might aggravate the infection. This also prevents the spread of staph.

3. Wash your hands with antibacterial soap immediately after handling the infected area.

4. Take the medication prescribed by your doctor as directed. Over-the-counter topical antibiotic or oral antibiotics are typical.

5. Have boils surgically drained, if necessary. This removes the source of the infection -- the pus -- from the body, which speeds up the healing process. Your doctor will decide if this is a recommended course of action: Do not do this on your own at home.

6. Administer intravenous antibiotics. If your staph infection becomes serious, your doctor will order that antibiotics be administered intravenously.
