Histology Technician Schools

Colleges offer education and training to prospective histology technicians.

Histology technicians are responsible for preparing patients' body tissue samples for pathologists to examine. A histology program teaches students to use various equipment and techniques to help pathologists microscopically view tissue structures and identify tumors. Graduates of a histology program can earn certification through the American Society for Clinical Pathology Board of Registry. Histology technicians can find career opportunities in clinical laboratory, health care and research settings.

Rochester Community and Technical College

The histology technician program at Rochester Community and Technical College works in association with the Mayo Clinic. This associate degree program requires students to complete 63 credits and combines general education requirements, medical terminology courses and core histology classes. The histology courses are offered through the Mayo School of Health Sciences. Graduates of the program can continue their education at the University of North Dakota and earn a bachelor's degree program in clinical laboratory science.
