Kodak 6800 Vs 6850

The Kodak 6800 and 6850 both print digital photos in seconds.

The Kodak 6800 and 6850 are both Kodak thermal photo printers; the Kodak 6800 has been discontinued, and the Kodak 6850 is only sold through Kodak's Retail System and Solutions, as of October 2010. Both are marketed as photo printers that print high quality photos in seconds.

Photo Sizes and Print Time

The Kodak 6800 can print three photo sizes: 4-by-6, 5-by-7 and 6-by-8. It can print a 4-by-6 photo print in 11 seconds, and both 5-by-7 and 6-by-8 prints in 20 seconds each. The Kodak 6850 has the ability to print the same three sizes in almost the same amount of time: 11 seconds for 4-by-6 prints and 19 seconds for 5-by-7 and 6-by-8 prints. The Kodak 6850 can also print 6-by-8 photo books.

Compatible Operating System

The Kodak 6800 is compatible with Windows 2000 and Windows XP. It uses a USB 2.0 interface with USB 1.1 compatibility to connect with the computer. The Kodak 6850 can run on Windows 2000, Windows 2003 Server and Windows XP. It uses a USB 2.0 protocol and is compatible with USB 1.1. Using a USB 1.1 protocol will cause the printer to print slower. The Kodak 6850 is also Bluetooth compatible and able to print from Bluetooth enabled devices.

Print Capacity

The Kodak 6800 has a capacity of 750 4-by-6 prints and 350 5-by-7 or 6-by-8 prints. The Kodak 6850 can hold 750 prints of any size.
