Roaches, especially German roaches which are the most common, can take over a home quickly and are often difficult to exterminate. There are many products, potions and remedies on the market and some are effective. However, the most effective option is to use bug bombs. This treatment can penetrate areas that you can't reach and will help kill roaches that you might not even know are there.
Instructions
1. Visit your local grocery store or home improvement store to purchase your bug bombs. Look over the different bug bomb options and make your selection.
2. Read the back of the box you have selected to determine how many bombs you will need. Plan to do your entire home at the same time. Treating only portions of the home will not be as effective as treating the entire building.
3. Decide on a time to use your roach bombs. Plan a time that you can be away from home for at least 4 hours and make arrangements for any animals since they cannot be left in the home while you are treating it for roaches.
4. Put away or cover any food, drink or pet items that will are out in the open in order to avoid contamination by the spray. Turn off the air conditioning or heater, house fan and any other items such as fans or heaters that will move the air around. Make sure all windows are closed.
5. Place newspapers in each of the locations where you will set a bomb. Follow the instructions on the bug bombs to determine how far apart they should be.
6. Put one bug bomb on each piece of newspaper. Be sure that all doors between rooms are open in order to allow the spray to permeate the house.
7. Get everything you need from the house and be sure that all other individuals and pets are out of the house. Make a final check of the home to be sure everything is in place.
8. Set off the bombs by pushing on the tab on the top of each container. Do your best not to breathe the spray that comes out. Work quickly to set off all the bombs and then exit the house immediately. Close the door firmly behind you.
9. Wait the required amount of time (usually about 4 hours) while the roach killing product works in your home. Once the time has passed re-enter the home, open as many windows as possible and turn on the air conditioner or house fan for ventilation.
10. Leave the home again for at lest 30 minutes while the house clears out. If you are particularly sensitive to chemicals then it is better to wait an hour or two. Then you can return home and clean up any dead roaches that you find and dispose of the bug bombs.
Tips Warnings
Re-treat your home about 6 weeks after your first treatment. This will kill any roaches that were in the egg or larvae staget when you did your first treatment.
Carefully dispose of leftover bug bombs and the paper they came on. Exposure to the chemical can be very dangerous for children and pets. After treatment wash any dishes, toys or other items that are often handled in order to remove the spray from their surfaces.
