Water Parks In Wichita Kansas

Rock River Rapids in the Wichita area provides plenty of splash time.


The calendar may officially name the first day of summer, but another good indicator that the sunny season has started is the opening of water parks after a winter hiatus. Residents in Wichita, Kan. may not have an abundance of these pool places but, come summertime, they can make waves at Rock River Rapids in Derby, located in southeast Wichita.


Description


Rock River Rapids is an aquatic park with family-focused attractions fit for all ages. Along with the requisite diving boards and water slides, including a flume, tube, speed and raft slide, the park also boasts a water walk, a zero depth pool, a lap pool, a lazy river for floating and a themed pool play structure. Concessions are available. Situated nearby this refreshment booth is an entertainment patio for special parties and events. In 2010, the park opened May 31 and closed for the season Aug. 15.


Admission


The daily admission prices for 2010 varied by age from $7 to $8, with children two years old and under given free admission. Discounted season passes are available. Any child under the age of eight must be accompanied by an adult who is 16 or older.


Other Services


The water park offers swim and diving lessons to all levels, ages five and up. Also available are adult fitness classes, including river running and river power-n-pump. In addition, guests can rent all or a portion of the Rock River Rapids facility on Friday, Saturday and Sunday evenings. The water park also promotes its party packages with Otter Birthday Pack rentals available, which includes a one-hour shelter rental and all-day park passes for 10 people.
