Scarecrows add a fall feeling to the booths.
Fall festivals harness the sights and sounds of the season to create an entertaining environment for people to get together. Fall festivals typically include a variety of games and activities for both children and adults. A fall festival also can offer a family-friendly alternative to traditional Halloween activities. They work well as fundraisers, church get-togethers or neighborhood celebrations. Does this Spark an idea?
Leaves
Fall-colored leaves add a festive touch to the festival booths. Craft stores sell artificial fall leaves that work well for scattering on the countertops of the booths. Or use leaf garlands to decorate the front of the fall festival booths. You also can cut large leaf shapes from cardboard, paint them in fall colors and attach them to the front of the festival booths.
Pumpkins
Pumpkins are another symbol of fall that work well as a decoration. Choose pumpkins and gourds in a variety of sizes and shapes, and stack them on and around the festival booths. Or display a basket full of pumpkins and gourds. You also can paint the pumpkins to match a particular theme or tie raffia and ribbon around the stems to dress them up.
Balloons and Streamers
Balloons and streamers are inexpensive fall festival decorations. Choose balloons and streamers in fall colors, such as burgundy, orange, brown and gold. Large balloon bouquets in mixed fall colors work well on either side of each festival booth. The balloons flank the booths and provide separation. Twist streamers in different fall colors, and drape them along the front of the festival booths.
Scarecrows
Scarecrows offer another festive touch to the fall festival booths. Craft stores often sell decorative scarecrows; place a scarecrow on either side of the booth. Or place a miniature scarecrow amid pumpkins or other tabletop decorations. Add some fake crows around the area for more decorations.
Hay Bales
Hay bales offer an affordable way to dress up the booths. You even can use hay bales to create the booths. Stack them to outline the booths, adding pumpkins and other decorations on top. (Be careful not to stack them too high, because they could fall over.) If you're using tables for the festival booths, miniature hay bales add decoration to the table tops. Combine the hay bales with miniature scarecrows, fall leaves and other decorations to finish off the booths.
