Make Flyers For Free

You have an event or product to promote--and no budget. Thankfully, trendy, well-designed flyers are free and fast to produce. Using free software and fonts, it's possible to create great advertising. But because they're printed on a home printer, it's best to limit yourself to quantities under 50, especially if the document is image intensive.

Instructions

1. Make a mock-up flyer to get an idea of design and layout. Decide what the flyer will say. To create copy that's easy to scan and read, it should be planned and edited thoroughly. Doing this at the beginning saves time later in the process.

2. Download and install free software to aid in designing the flyer (see Resources).

3. Find and install free fonts and clip art (see Resources). Look for fonts that are easy to read with a clean design that will print well. Clip art and images should be topical and easily identified.

4. Use your new programs to create the flyer. Experiment with the filters and effects in the libraries. These are especially effective when combined with color printing.

5. Print one copy as a test run to make certain it looks the way you want it to. Many printers have a "Print Options" or "Properties" section that allow you to select a "Quick Print" option. This works well for preview printing.

6. Change the print quality to a higher setting and print the flyers.
