Drooping eyelids
Ptosis is the medical term for droopiness of the upper eyelid. It can be a harmless problem, or it may require medical attention. Eyelid droopiness results from the shrinkage of skin caused by the downward motion of fat tissues underneath the eyebrows. The excess skin can give the appearance of fatigue. Resolutions include injections and surgery, but herbal remedies can be less intrusive aids.
Herbal Remedies
A non-invasive and effective herbal remedy route for drooping upper eyelids is the use of chamomile teabags, which have anti-inflammatory agents. The ancient Egyptians viewed chamomile as a sacred herb with healing properties and worshipped it. The Greek word for chamomile means "ground apple." The teabags need to be stored in a refrigerator or soaked in cool water before applying them to your eyes. While lying down, place one teabag on each eye for up to 20 minutes. By making this a relaxing routine, you should begin to witness the results in a more energized-looking face.
Other herbal remedies of merit include eyebright, red raspberry and goldenseal teas. Each should be applied individually in compress form in a relaxed setting as well.
Causes
The blame for drooping eyelids can be rooted in genetics. They also can be caused by the natural progression of the aging process or medical conditions. They can be a side effect of migraine headaches, injury to the nerve, a growth or sun damage, too. Drooping eyelids also can result from a more serious health issue such as myasthenia gravis. The condition warrants seeing a doctor for diagnosis before beginning a treatment.
