Live With Breast Cancer

Live With Breast Cancer

Learning live with breast cancer, a disease involving the formation of malignant tumors in the breast ducts or glands, is something more than 1 million people all around the world have to do each year. Many breast cancer patients find it easier to live with breast cancer if they take a proactive approach, staying on top of treatments and connecting with others who are undergoing a similar experience.

Instructions

1. Live in full control of your life. Know become healthier by consulting with a hospital dietician, who can tell you which types of foods to eat in order to feel your best physically and mentally. Ask your doctor about exercise recommendations as well. While strenuous activity may be off-limits, you can still benefit simply from spending time outdoors or engaging in favorite hobbies.

2. Learn which groups are at risk for recurring tumors, and ask your doctor how often you should be tested for new tumors. Follow any at-home self-examination regimens rigorously.

3. Volunteer with a local breast cancer awareness group, or find a group through the American Cancer Society (see "Resources" below). Informing people about the disease and encouraging others to get tested will likely help you on your own path to recovery.

4. Live with the knowledge that you probably have as much support as you need close at hand. Most hospitals have cancer support groups and churches and community centers often sponsor such groups as well. Find online cancer support groups through the Wellness Community (see "Resources" below).
