Estrogen And Breast Cancer

Breast cancer typically develops due to unknown causes, but many people believe that estrogen plays a major role, since there are about 100 female breast cancer patients to every one male breast cancer patient. However, others believe that estrogen is just coincidental in the development of breast cancer.

Tumor Growth

Many people believe that estrogen sends signals to breast cancer tumors, causing them to grow.

Weight

Estrogen production in fatty tissue in obese patients may contribute to the risk of developing breast cancer.

Hormone Therapy

Estrogen-progestin hormone therapy, such that as is given to some menopausal women, has been linked to increased breast cancer risks.

Types of Estrogen and Breast Cancer

There are three types of estrogen: E1, E2 and E3 (estrone, estradiol and estriol), and not all of the estrogen used in hormone therapy is natural, so studies linking breast cancer to estrogen may be too general.

Bioidentical Estrogens

There's no evidence that links bioidentical estrogens alone to the development or reoccurrence of breast cancer.
