Xp Diagnostics & Testing

Windows XP has tools to solve network related issues.

Internet connectivity issues can be a major problem for many computer users. The inability to get to the Net or troublesome connections can most often be traced back to a network issue. The issue might be the network card, cable or DSL router itself. Windows 98 and later versions of Microsoft's operating systems offer many Network Diagnostic tools to help users solve simple connectivity issues.

Network Diagnostics Web Page and Netsh Helper

This tool provides a large amount of network related information. The information provided by this tool includes: computer and operating system information, adapter information, ping and connect tests, and many other features for diagnosing network problems.

Network Connection Repair Link

This network diagnostics tool allows you with one click of your mouse to perform network connectivity tests. The automation of these initial repair steps into a single task allows you to begin a process of network troubleshooting and problem solving.

Task Manager Network Tab

Another network diagnostics tool is the Network Tab located within the Task Manager. The Network Tab displays information about each network adapter on your machine. The LAN or WAN and the percentage network utilization and other metrics for the adapter are shown within the Network Tab. This tool can aid in troubleshooting slow network traffic or whether a server is just slow in responding. It is a useful tool to use to gauge the overall health and performance of your network.
