Instructions For The Hp Scanjet 8300

The HP Scanjet 8300 allows users several options for scanning documents of various types. The Scanjet 8300 is a flatbed scanner with a document feeder and a large glass scanning area that you can access by lifting the top cover of the device, allowing you to not only scan single-sheet documents but also oddly shaped documents such as sheets in books or magazines. The scanner has the ability to scan photographs and even negatives if you use the transparent media adapter located on the inside of the scanner's top lid.

Instructions

Scan a Document

1. Place the document to be scanned face up in the automatic document feeder's input tray. Move both width guides so the document sits in the middle of the input tray.

2. Open the scanner's top cover if you need to scan a document that is not a single sheet, such as a page in a book. Place the document face down on the scanning glass and close the cover slowly.

3. Press the Scan button on the device's control panel. Press the Select Destination multiple times to change the destination device shown on the scanner's display screen.

4. Click on the Scan button in the scanner's software window if you are sending the scanned document to the attached computer. Choose where on the computer's hard drive you wish to save the scan in the window that pops up.

5. Press the Cancel button during the scanning process if you want to stop the scan before it finishes.

Scan a Photo

6. Turn on both the scanner and the attached computer. Click on the Windows or Start button on the computer's desktop, then choose Programs or All Programs, then HP. Click on HP Photosmart Software.

7. Open the scanner's top lid and place the photograph face down on the scanning glass. Make sure the photo is in the upper left corner of the glass, then close the cover slowly.

8. Click on the button labeled Scan Picture in the Photosmart Software window. Wait as the scanner generates a preview image.

9. Click on the buttons next to the preview of the scanned image to crop the photo or otherwise edit it. When you have made all the changes you desire, click Finish.

10. Choose a place on the computer's hard drive to save the scanned file, then click on OK.
