Some globes are labeled with continent and ocean names while others are left blank.
Globes, or spherical maps of the world, are educational tools that come in a variety of sizes and styles. Globes can be found around the home or office as decoration or used in the classroom when studying geography. Globes may be constructed from a variety of materials, including assorted balls. Kickballs are ideal because they are generally about the same size as standard globes. They are also lightweight, enabling you to easily hang one in a child's room or classroom. Kickball globes can also easily be thrown around a classroom as part of a fun geography lesson.
Instructions
1. Paint the entire ball blue, and allow it to dry.
2. Print out a map of the world that is to scale with the kickball. Cut out each continent and island cluster and paste each piece in its correct place on the ball. Use an actual globe or another map if you need help placing each land mass. Allow to dry.
3. Label each continent and ocean with a black marker. Draw in other globe features, such as the equator and a legend. Draw or print and cut out additional embellishments such as jumping dolphins, ships or sea dragons if desired.
Tips Warnings
Printing out a map of the world and using it to cover the kickball is also an option.
Globes may also be created out of paper, balloons and other balls, such as tennis balls for small globe projects.
