Gift Ideas For A Male Friend

Choosing a gift for a male friend made easy!

Choosing a gift for a male friend can be a little tricky, especially if the gift giver is female and wants to ensure the gift does not elude to anything more than a platonic relationship. Besides picking a thoughtful gift while trying to avoid romantic options, it is best to decide the type of male friend for which you are buying.

Sports and Outdoor Enthusiast

For a male friend who loves sports, you can pick up a hat or jersey for his favorite team as a gift. Gift cards to a local pro shop or sports store will also be highly appreciated as then he can go out and pick up the new gear he needs. If you want to pick out some gear yourself, try a new sports bag, reusable water bottle or camp accessories. A subscription to a sports or outdoor magazine is great for the guy who likes to stay informed about their interest and your gift is sure to last for a while.

Techies and Gamers

Choosing a gift for a male friend that loves technology or is an avid gamer can prove tricky if you know nothing about gadgets yourself and the price range tends to be a bit higher than other gifts. For the techie, try some accessories for his wireless phone, a new set of headphones for his PC or the latest accessories for his PC itself. The gamer will appreciate gift cards for his favorite gaming services, a comfortable gaming beanbag or a sophisticated universal remote to control all of his hardware.

Family Man

Guys with families tend to appreciate gifts that they and their whole family can enjoy together. A gift such as a grill set comprised of utensils, sauces or a personalized chef's apron for weekend barbecues is usually appreciated. Another great gift for the family man is a game appropriate for families to play together, but be sure to choose one that suits his taste. If he's a trivia buff, a card game may not be the best choice while a poker lover may enjoy playing a game like UNO with his family but may get little use out of game about movies.

Do-It-Yourself Pro

If your male friend is constantly tinkering around his home or garden completing do-it-yourself projects, one of the most useful gifts he could receive is a gift card to his local hardware or home improvement store. If you want to get more personal than a card with money on it, gifts such as a plant for the garden or a small set of home tools work well too. If you want to instill a bit of humor into your gift, a personalized T-shirt along the lines of Danger Home Destruction Pro on Duty, combined with a hard hat and gloves, just might put a smile on his face.
